Time sure flies by! We are halfway through 2025, and in the blink of an eye we will be meeting with advocates and allies like you at the 2025 National Sexual Assault ConferenceⓇ (NSAC)! RALIANCE will be joining the sexual violence prevention field in Anaheim, California from August 26-28 to build relationships and continue the conversation about how to bridge the field with the corporate sector to create environments safe from sexual misconduct everywhere. We thought we’d use this week’s blog to give you a little preview of what RALIANCE has in store for this year’s conference!

In addition to co-sponsoring the conference, we are proud to continue our tradition of running our workshops. This year, we have two workshops: “A Common Goal: Exploring the Intersections of the Tech Data Privacy, Survivors’ Rights, and Public Safety Transparency” and “The Future of Funding in the Sexual Violence Prevention Field.” Below is what you can expect from each session.

A Common Goal: Exploring the Intersections of the Tech Data Privacy, Survivors’ Rights, and Public Safety Transparency

Session Description: Technology continues to be a clear avenue for connection to many aspects of life. No sector of life is immune from sexual violence, and sexual violence can occur in tech-facilitated interactions. Recently, there has been a disturbing trend where, in attempts to hold tech responsible for harms that happen while using apps or services, local lawmakers will draft policies that violate survivor’s rights to privacy, choice, and autonomy. Advocates and attorneys have an opportunity and responsibility to partner together to protect survivors in their communities while also finding solutions to adequately prevent and respond to sexual harm in tech-facilitated interactions. Join representatives from Uber and RALIANCE to learn more about the intersections of corporate advocacy and survivor advocacy, and how bridging the gap between these two fields can lead to better policies that best fit the needs of survivors of sexual violence.

This session will be presented by RALIANCE’s Director of Consulting Services & Partnerships, Tori VandeLinde, and Uber’s Director of Global Policy – Sustainability, Safety, & Privacy, Emilie Boman. Boman is most excited about, “Discussing how tech companies and survivor advocates can team up to build more survivor-centered policies and products. Protecting privacy and honoring autonomy should always be at the heart of safety efforts—and that means working together to find thoughtful solutions without adding new harms.”

The Future of Funding in the Sexual Violence Prevention Field

Session Description: As a funder, RALIANCE recognizes that we are in an era of rapid change, with organizations more vulnerable to budget cuts and their lasting impact on the sexual violence prevention field. In this session we will explore specific funding challenges, concerns; and needs, and how we might convert this insight into action including collaboration with other funders.

This session will be presented by RALIANCE’s Director of Consulting Services & Partnerships, Tori VandeLinde, and RALIANCE’s Project Coordinator, Julia Mallory. Mallory said that she, “looks forward to connecting with advocates and partners about the resources needed to sustain their work. In this session we plan to listen more than we speak, with the long term goal of converting this important insight into action.”

The RALIANCE team is looking forward to connecting with the field and furthering our mission. Are you registered for NSAC yet? If not, there’s still time to register at this link. We can’t wait to see you there!
